How much you pay for tuition fees depends on whether you are assessed as a UK or international student. Before you apply, it is important to know which of these categories you belong to.
Find out if you will qualify for UK or International tuition fees by visiting the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) website.
If you are an EU student and started a course in February 2021 you will pay UK fees. If you started after February 2021, you will pay International fees.

How are EU student tuition fees affected by Brexit?
If you are an EU student and started a course in February 2021 you will pay UK fees.

For more information see the UK Government's website.

Will I get a refund if I withdraw from a course?
For full information about what refund you may be due please see the Tuition Fees Policy.
Refunds are calculated based on when you give official notice of withdrawing from a course. Official notice is when the Head of School (or their nominated deputy) receive your signed, official withdrawal form. All refunds are subject to an administration fee.

Additional costs - Immigration Health Surcharge
If you are coming to the UK for more than six months to study with us on a Tier 4 visa (or for any period if you are applying for a visa within the UK) you will need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge before you submit your visa application.
Please use the Gov.uk website to calculate how much you will need to pay. You will need to know the start and end date of the course, which you will find on your CAS letter. Once you have paid the surcharge, you will be given a reference number which you will need to state on your visa application.
Help with funding
Scholarships and bursaries
We offer a range of support to international students:
- Up to 100 International Ambassador Scholarships are awarded each year to students in their first year of undergraduate or postgraduate study
- A range of scholarships and bursaries for EU students
- An Alumni Bursary for those who have completed an undergraduate degree at UWL
Federal Direct Loan Program for American Applicants
Federal Direct Loans are low-interest loans to help students pay for their education.
Direct Loans are provided by the US government and are available to US citizens, US permanent residents and eligible non-citizens. To apply for these loans you will need to have firmly accepted an unconditional offer to study at the University of West London.
Financial support for disabled students
We are committed to supporting all our disabled students - please get in touch with us to discuss support.
The Reasonable Adjustment Fund is designed to contribute towards additional academic-related costs you may have as a result of your disability. A Disability Adviser will assess your individual needs before support is arranged.
We are unable to fund any non-study support costs arising because of a disability so these costs will need to be met by you or another source of funding.
Opening a bank account
You will need a UK bank account to pay your tuition fees, pay bills and receive wages from employers, if you are eligible to work.
The University of West London's preferred bank is Barclays and we have made arrangements with them so you can open an account without having to go into the bank in person, as the whole process can be now done online. This does not restrict you from using other banks, however they may require you to visit the bank to open an account.
To apply for a new bank account at Barclays, please visit the Barclays website.
You will need:
- a valid passport.
- a University letter – that can be accessed via MyRegistry under the My Studies section.
- if you are living off-campus, you must provide a tenancy agreement which must be dated and signed by you and the landlord.
- the BRP card - if you have one.
