Co-create UWL Library

Perhaps there is a book you’d like to read that’s not currently in our collection? Perhaps you’ve read something great that ought to be added to our collection? We’d love to hear your recommendations for inclusive titles.

  • About Co-create the Library

Library Services is committed to increasing the diversity of the content in our collections. We work in partnership with teaching staff to write inclusive reading lists that centre titles written by marginalised and underrepresented groups. Alongside this, we want to hear from you to create more diverse collections; Co-create the Library adds inclusive titles to our collections.

  • What is an inclusive title?

Here are some examples of inclusive titles that students have recommended via Co-create the Library. This is not an exhaustive list; there are many more ways in which a title may be considered inclusive.

    • The book is authored by a person from a marginalised and/or underrepresented group. For example, an LGBTQ+ writer; a writer with a disability; a writer from a working-class background; a writer from the Global South; a writer with heritage from the Global South.
    • The book is authored by a person from a contextually underrepresented group. For example, a woman writer in a field dominated by male writers.
    • The content of the book relates to a marginalised and/or underrepresented group.                              For example, indigenous populations; queer studies; fat studies.
