Students took their style inspiration from around the globe. On the runway, many of the designs featured vibrant acid bright colours and an interesting mix of textures, demonstrating great technical expertise using a broad range of textiles.
Wiktoria Labaz, one of the final year students, who joined UWL as a foundation student, said:
The entire four years has been about working towards this moment – the final collection,”
Angela Onorato added:
We are going to be changing and adjusting our clothes all the way until the show.
We are constantly thinking about it – it is the same or even more important than the graduation ceremony,”
Wiktoria said:
We’ve been joking that it feels like falling in love! This is also the first catwalk in two years,”
There was also an alumni presentation for those who missed their big catwalk moment due to Covid.
As the graduates put the finishing touches to their garments for the show, they are being supported by level 4 students.
Karolina Idzkowska said:
Sometimes, no matter how good the design, or the cutting, the fabric simply doesn’t perform as expected so alterations are needed,
This is a good way for us to understand how to resolve problems and produce things quicker.”
Some of the most exciting designers like John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander McQueen are British, Wiktoria added:
I’m so lucky to be in London. This really is a great place to be for fashion.”
