Inspiring UWL students up for national nursing awards
Introduction
Inspiring nursing and midwifery students from the University of West London (UWL) are in the running to be crowned best in the country in this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.
A total of six trainee healthcare professionals have been shortlisted across six categories in recognition of their attitudes and commitment to their courses, patients, and fellow students.
The annual awards bring together the nursing community to shine a light on the brightest talent making their way into the profession, highlighting excellence in education across all specialties of nursing and those who go above and beyond during their training.
The University’s immersive learning and teaching theatre event has also been nominated for Teaching Innovation of the Year after helping to create a memorable simulation environment for second and third year nursing and midwifery students.
Charmagne Barnes, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean of UWL’s College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare (CNMH), said:
We are incredibly proud to see so many of our nursing and midwifery students - and our innovative immersive simulation activity - in this year’s shortlist.
To see recognition of the achievement of our students and the innovative work that has gone into the learning and teaching strategy we have been nominated for, is both, inspiring and very good news. We wish all our nominees all the best of luck.
The University trains significant numbers of health and social care professionals each year. Teaching also includes simulated learning and excellent placement opportunities to ensure that all students are ready to offer safe and excellent patient care on graduating.
