The food is lovely and amazing. My favourite so far is the tepsi dish made with aubergine by the team called Taste of Mesopotamia,”

said Adnam, studying an MSc in Civil Engineering.

My top dish is the kobbeh made by the team called The Persians,”

said Amir, also studying a Masters in Civil Engineering.

Anca, studying a BSc in Creative Computing, said,

I have tried some vegan dishes which include the Indian curry. It is my favourite so far.”

While, Naomi, an undergraduate in Creative Computing, said,

I have sampled a bit of everything. My favourite dish is the tepsi. The meat gnocchi and meat cannelloni are incredibly good, too.”

Eugenio Donati, part of the team named Stereo Buddies, which made three types of cannelloni, said,

Everyone has been cooking to win today!”

Professor Philip Cox, Head of the School of Computing and Engineering, said,

This event has been such great fun and I’d like to thank all of today’s participants as well as my colleagues at LGCHT for the use of their facilities.”

Taste of Mesopotamia, comprising Dr Sama Aleshaiker (Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Computer Science) and Dr Laden Husamaldin (Associate Professor in Information Systems and Project Management), were joint winners with The Persians, comprising Dr Reza Keihani (Lecturer in Civil and Environmental Engineering) and Maryam Keyhani (PhD researcher in Civil Engineering and the Built Environment), who made a Kobbeh.

Paulo Marques-Oliveira, Chef Trainer at LGCHT, gave the Best Technical Dish award to the team called The Italians, comprising Fabio Tosti (Professor of Civil Engineering and Director of The Faringdon Research Centre for Non-Destructive Testing and Remote Sensing) and Dr Livia Lantini (Lecturer in Civil Engineering). They created handmade gnocchi with separate meat and cheese sauces based on recipes from Dr Lantini’s grandmother.
