Introduction

The University of West London (UWL) has launched the first Pre-Registration Masters in the UK for Paramedic Science that will enable healthcare professionals, such as nurses, midwives and allied health professionals*, to become paramedics in just two years.

Developed in partnership with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS), this trailblazing course will offer students the opportunity to gain the relevant knowledge and clinical expertise to work the frontline of emergency care.

Once successfully graduated, students will be eligible to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Paramedic and be eligible to gain employment with the LAS, the busiest emergency ambulance service in the UK.

Qualified Paramdics, male and female

Fiona Edwards, Deputy Dean at the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare at UWL, said:

For those healthcare professionals looking for a new challenge and thinking about becoming a paramedic, this new Masters course is the perfect way to gain the knowledge, skills and clinical expertise to deliver safe, effective and appropriate treatment in emergency situations.

Students will benefit from our industry-standard simulation facilities such as our ‘simbulance’ and be part of wider community of professions dedicated to being at the forefront of modern healthcare.
