UWL rises to number 77 in the 2023 Complete University Guide
The University of West London is delighted to announce that it has climbed 17 places to reach number 77 and been named Best Modern* London University (non-specialist) in the 2023 Complete University Guide. The guide also placed UWL in the top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction.
A leading authority on UK universities, the Complete University Guide publishes its independent university league tables and rankings every year to help inform the choices of prospective university students around the world. The criteria it uses to decide its rankings include entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality and graduate prospects.
The guide also reported that UWL jumped up 27 places in research quality, placing it within the top 100.
UWL Vice Chancellor Professor Peter John CBE comments
Our students are at the centre of everything we do. That’s why it is so gratifying to see us rising higher in the rankings. We pride ourselves on delivering career-focused courses and a great student experience to prepare our students for their future working lives. I’m delighted to see that we are making such a positive difference.
Students’ Union President Maisie Kelly added
The Students’ Union is really proud of this ranking. We feel it reflects the continued investment UWL has made in support, infrastructure and activities that enhance our students’ experience and help them achieve their goals.
In recent months, UWL has also won plaudits for the quality of its research with the Research Excellence Framework, the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions, placing it in the top 100 universities in the country. This strong performance, in which almost 80 percent of UWL research was rated as world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*) has certainly contributed to UWL’s rise in the rankings.
And in July 2021, UWL demonstrated the strength of its commitment to education for all by joining up with Ruskin College, Oxford. Becoming part of UWL safeguards Ruskin College’s mission to tackle inequality and empowers students who may have missed out on formal education or faced personal, social or financial obstacles that prevented them pursuing further study.
