UWL win Varsity
UWL Win Varsity
For the first time in over 10 years, UWL has been victorious in Varsity – demonstrating the University’s sporting prowess after major investment in new sporting facilities.
After closely contested matches in basketball, netball and rugby, the competition was decided on the final football match and UWL edged a 2-1 win.
Congratulating everyone involved, Sara Raybould, Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor, said:
This win is a real team effort and so much hard work, energy and commitment goes into delivering team sports at UWL.
This year we’ve opened the new Gunnersbury Sports Centre, which now gives our sports teams access to some of the best sports facilities you can find in London. I am sure this is just the start of further success and, if you want to get involved, contact the SU and be part of something great.”
Students' Union President Stella Webb said:
Our students have been eager for a Varsity win for a long time, and it is with great pleasure and relief that we can say we have finally won! All our players, competitors, and spectators are thrilled with the outcome of the day and would like to also thank Westminster for hosting such a good tournament."
