How to apply
At UWL we are dedicated to helping you every step of the way towards becoming a student, and during your time at the University. We have created a step-by-step guide to our application process, so you can quickly and easily see what needs to be done next.

The information below is for applicants to our undergraduate with foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. Prospective PhD students should refer to our applying for a PhD page for guidance on how to apply.

Step 1: select your course and review our entry requirements
Use the course search tool at the top of this page to find a programme or browse all our courses on the study page.
The course pages have detailed information about content and career opportunities, along with academic and English language requirements. Tuition fees are listed at the top of each page, and you can view a list of all available scholarships and bursaries for international applicants.
Country specific entry requirements are outlined on our your country page, and you can also find detailed guidance on English language requirements and acceptable tests.
You can apply while completing another course of study or if you are awaiting an English language test result. Please upload your most recent transcript (translated to English) for our Admissions team to assess.

Step 2: submit your application
Review the checklist below and apply directly on the course page or through UCAS (undergraduate only).
Application checklist:
Undergraduate
- Scan of passport ID page
- Personal statement
- Reference (can be uploaded after submission)
- English language certificate (can be uploaded after submission)
- Provisional transcript or final transcript and certificate (in English or officially translated)
Postgraduate
- Scan of passport ID page
- CV
- Personal statement
- References (two professional and/or academic references - can be uploaded after submission)
- English language certificate (can be uploaded after submission)
- Provisional transcript or final transcript and certificate (in English or officially translated)
You can access our direct application form by selecting the ‘international’ tab under ‘how to apply’ on the relevant course page.
We do not charge an application fee for submitting a direct application.

Step 3: log in to our applicant portal
Whether you apply through UCAS or our direct application form, you will be sent an email confirming your application has been received. You will also be issued with an 8 digit UWL applicant ID and invited to join our applicant portal.
If any further documents or forms are required, our Admissions team will be in touch through the portal. It is important that you check your inbox and our portal for updates as the Admissions team may withdraw your application if requests for documents or forms are not completed in good time.
Once you application has been assessed the decision will be available for you to view in the portal, and if an offer has been issued you will be able to view the official document here.

Pre-sessional English language courses
If you have not met the English Language requirements to study an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree course with us, you may be eligible for one of our pre-sessional English language courses.

If you are from a country that UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) have not defined as majority English speaking, you will need to provide evidence of your language ability to study at the University.

Applying with an Agent
The University of West London is partnered with a range of education agents around the world.
Utilising the services of an agent does not impact the likelihood of receiving an offer to study at UWL, however, some students may find the additional services they offer helpful in navigating an unfamiliar education and immigration system.

Selecting an agent
The British Council has produced a student guide to choosing an education agent. If you are in contact with an agent and wish to confirm that they are a partner of the University of West London, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Information for prospective agents
The University will undertake due diligence checks on all potential Agent partners. If you would like to become an Agent of the University of West London, you will need to complete an application form and provide detailed information about the organisation. We will require two references as part of your application. UK public sector university referees are preferred wherever possible.
