Pyramid Clubs for schools
Pyramid school programme
What is Pyramid?
Children and young people who experience social and emotional problems often internalise their difficulties and struggle to build friendships. Left unchecked, these problems can develop into more serious mental health issues.
Pyramid clubs are a special initiative held at schools for children who are shy, quiet, withdrawn and who may feel anxious about home or school situations, whether it's school work or friendships. The idea is to develop their confidence and self esteem and to develop coping skills so they can deal with the things that life throws at them. And it works!
What does it cost?
Pyramid clubs are run in individual schools, groups of schools or academy chains, and in voluntary organisations across the UK under a licence from the University of West London. The costs are:
- Annual licence for one school £250
- Annual licence for multiple schools under a council or academy chain £1500
- Training for club leaders up to 16 people over two days £700
- Starter pack and materials £175.
The University of West London (UWL) can deliver clubs in areas close to UWL's base on behalf of schools, using student and community volunteers. We recruit, vet and train club leaders to run a club at your site over a 10-week period for £1100.

We can provide this for up to 10 schools for £3500.
Pyramid clubs run in mainstream primary schools for children aged 7-10 and for those about to make the transition to secondary school, and in secondary schools for young people aged 11-14.
In addition, pilot clubs have taken place for children with special learning difficulties to develop a special variant for children with more complex needs.
