Accessibility Statements
AtoM
AtoM has not published an accessibility statement. However, it is committed to a coordinated community effort to help document AtoM's accessibility against known national, state/provincial, and international accessibility guidelines, standards, and best practices.
AtoM supports ARIA tags (to support screen readers) on all public user interface elements.
It also supports keyboard navigation, including in the full-width treeview and logged in users can enter alt-text values for digital objects.
In their version 2.3 release, they improved keyboard navigation and screen reader support, adding basic aria tags (for screen readers) throughout the public interface and making sure that alt-text is available wherever possible, as well as adding the keyboard navigation fixes for the search box and browse menus. The 2.5 release added a user-editable field in the Digital object metadata area to add alt-text for digital object uploads.
EPrints
EPrints has not provided us with an accessibility statement at this time.
The UWL Library Services team take accessibility very seriously and we want to provide an accessible experience to all of our students and staff. We will continue to work with E-Prints to improve the accessibility of their platform and provide a more accessible experience for our students and staff. We are working to meet the compliance as specified in The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This applies to all of the websites, systems and content that Library Services is responsible for. We will address inaccessible content by enhancing staff training and making sure our staff are aware of digital accessibility best practice.
The EPrints team have been working on a number of improvements in the EPrints core to address some issues identified on public facing pages. These will be included in the next release (3.4.2). Our roadmap for future EPrints releases with specific reference to accessibility can be found on the EPrints website..
Our work is focused on a vanilla installation of EPrints (we are working with 3.4.2 which is due for release very soon) and as such we work with ‘out of the box’ branding and configuration. The branding UWL applies to the EPrints repository is completely separate from this. Our work does not extend to cover plugins which may be installed on your repository. However, those that we do manage and update will be incorporated into our roadmap at a future point.
EPrints is not responsible for content uploaded to the UWL repository.
UWL Library Services commits to ensuring that files uploaded to the UWL repository meet standards under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
