The UWL ID card is your university-wide multi-functional campus card. Your card is more than an ID card: it is a multi-application card that uses the most up-to-date smartcard technology. Main functions:

  • proof of student identity
  • access to all University of West London campuses
  • borrow library books and media equipment (when applicable)
  • access to computing and printing facilities
  • access to use UWL shuttle bus
  • secure and convenient cashless vending on campus
  • online services
  • online top-up.

How to get my UWL ID

New students

Upon completion of your enrolment process, you will arrive at the UWL ID Card Centre and have your photograph taken for your ID card. Please consult your course joining instructions.

If you have not received any instructions, please contact us at the UWL Card Centre using the details below.

Please collect your ID card from your nearest UWL ID card location.

Returning students

Students continuing their studies will need to complete their enrolment at the university first. Only after completion of your re-enrolment, will your card be activated automatically.

Full time employees

Full time employees will receive their ID number from the HR department.

Please collect your ID card from your nearest UWL ID card location.

Contractors

Some contractors performing works at the university will require a card to access certain areas. If you are a contractor and require an ID card fill out the non UWL staff application form.
Please ensure all sections of this form are fully completed. Incomplete forms will delay the completion of this request for the ID card. 

All completed forms must be printed, signed and emailed to the UWL ID card office.

  • How do I top up my UWL student ID card?

    Before you print at the university, you will need to ensure that you have sufficient funds available on your UWL ID card.

    We have developed a fast and secure online facility where you can add funds which will be available on your UWL ID card immediately, ready for you to use. You will not be charged for using this service!

    These funds can then be used to pay for printing and photocopy at the university. 

    Please note: you can top up only after you have obtained your UWL ID card.

    Funds loaded before the receipt of your UWL ID card cannot be refunded and will be lost!

  • How do I print and copy?

    Digital print bureau

    UWL provides students with facilities to print and photocopy documents. You will need to initialise your card to use these services.

    You can print from the computers available on your campus, by selecting your work and sending it to print.

    You must have sufficient funds available on your UWL ID card before sending any job to print or photocopy.

  • How do I borrow books?

    The Paul Hamlyn Library at the University of West London

    There are a number of libraries at UWL, each providing you with a wide range of resources and services to support your studies.

    After you have selected your literature, arrive at any of the library issuing points and present your UWL ID card to the library personnel who will assist you in the process.

    You can also use the Self-issue machines on campus, where you can borrow and return any books using your UWL ID card.

  • How do I log time and attendance?

    Some students undertaking certain NHS courses are required to log their time and attendance to be registered on their study records.

    After entering your campus, you will need to arrive at the reader and by using your UWL ID card, you will be able to log the time and date of your visit at the University.

    Please liaise with your NHS program leader on how to use the time and attendance system.
