Entry requirements

English language requirements

Find out more about English language requirements for international students. Please also review the entry requirements information below for details of any country specific qualifications that may be accepted in place of an English language test.

  • Undergraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

    • High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.8/4, in addition to one of the following: - SAT scores of minimum 550 in each one of the tests  - ACT composite score of 23 - A minimum of 2 advanced placement exams with 3 or above in each. Our Admissions team will consider a Superscore for the SAT
    • Associate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.6/4
    • British/International A Levels (from a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
    • IB Diploma (from a minimum 25 points depending on course)
    • Second and final year entry of a bachelor's degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
    • A recognised foundation course

    English language requirements

    High School Diploma English and Maths - 70% or above (for IELTS 7.5 course, 80% in English).

  • Postgraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a postgraduate course:

    • Bachelors degree with a minimum GPA of 2.6/4
    • Degree equivalent to UK Honours Bachelors degree (2.2 minimum)
    • A Masters qualification is accepted to apply for PhD study

    English language requirements

    Undergraduate degree awarded by US institution.

  • Integrated Foundation Year entry requirements

    A number of our courses also offer the opportunity to study an integrated foundation year which forms an integral part of the degree course.  Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a degree with an integrated foundation year:

    • High School Diploma with GPA 2.8/4
  • PhD entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a PhD:

    • UK upper second class honours degree (2:1) and a Masters degree with merit or distinction. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, we also consider recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualifications.

Federal Loan Programs for American Applicants

At UWL we participate in the William D Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program for students coming to study with us from the United States. 

Federal Direct Loans are low-interest loans to help undergraduate and postgraduate students pay for their education.
