Entry requirements

English language requirements

Find out more about English language requirements for international students. Please also review the entry requirements information below for details of any country specific qualifications that may be accepted in place of an English language test.

  • Undergraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

    • Completion of the STPM with a 2.0 GPA or above
    • UEC Unified Examination Certificate: Senior Middle Level with an overall mark of at least 75%
    • Matriculation Certificate (Matrikulasi) with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
    • Certificate
    • Advanced Diploma (MQF Level 5)
    • Diploma (MQF Level 4)
    • British/International A Levels (from a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
    • IB Diploma (from a minimum 25 points depending on course)
    • Second and final year entry of a Bachelors degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
    • A recognised foundation course.

    English language requirement

    1119 Grade C or above

  • Postgraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a postgraduate course:

    • Bachelors degree with a minimum grade of C+ or above*
    • Degree equivalent to UK Honours Bachelors degree (2.2 minimum)
    • PhD entry: a proposal is required in addition to a Masters qualification in a related subject area.

    * Degree programmes from private higher education providers must be accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and registered within the Malaysian Qualifications Register.

  • Integrated Foundation Year entry requirements

    A number of our courses also offer the opportunity to study an integrated foundation year which forms an integral part of the degree course. Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a degree with an integrated foundation year:

    • SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) (Malaysia Certificate of Education) where grades 1-6 are obtained
    • SPMV (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokesyenal) (Malaysia Certificate of Vocational Education)

    English language requirement

    1119 Grade C or above

  • PhD entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a PhD:

    • UK upper second class honours degree (2:1) and a Masters degree with merit or distinction. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, we also consider recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualifications.
