She recently completed a one-year internship at B4B Payments, who provide card issuing and payment services and are part of the Banking Circle Group.

Jenny said:

I secured this internship thanks to UWL’s Placement and Employment Services Team, who suggested it and encouraged me to apply and the Careers Team who helped with my CV, cover letter and interview preparation.”

Jenny gained experience, skills, knowledge, and confidence as she moved around departments and learned about various aspects of the business. She began in Account Management, where she looked after small client accounts, used Customer Relationship Management software, prepared presentations, produced reporting and organised trips.

Next, Jenny was based in the Marketing department, where she gained experience of new platforms for email communication, crafting social media campaigns and conducting market research.

Lastly, she began a role as a Sales Associate, where she learnt about negotiation techniques, engaged in cold calling, emailed potential prospects, and extracted data reports.

Tim Robson, B4B Account Director, and Jenny’s sponsor, said:

We will miss Jenny, but she’ll make a success of whatever she chooses to do in life. She was our first intern from UWL, but she won’t be our last.”

Shafqat Abbas, Course Leader and Senior Lecturer, said:

The BA (Hons) Business Studies with internship combines classroom learning with hands-on work experience. Doing an internship while pursuing this degree is highly beneficial for a student’s future career. They can gain real-world experience, develop professional skills, build industry connections, making them a competitive candidate for potential employers.”

Jenny added:

The internship has helped me relate the various modules of my degree with practical work life. It’s given me more of an idea of what I want to do when I graduate. I’m so glad I did it.”
