The music being performed and recorded was written by BA Music Technology and BMus Music Performance students for their final year Major Project. The strings were played by BMus Music Performance students, and studio engineering duties were managed by the BA Recording, Mixing and Production students.

“Creative collaboration is key to unlocking our students’ potential,” says BA Music Technology Course Leader Sam Sutton:

To this end, we are proud to have established an annual event that brings together students from LCM courses to engage in a collaborative process that spans performance, arrangement, composition, and recording of strings.”

“It was incredible to hear my music being recorded live by string players in a beautiful space like Vestry Hall,” says Level 6 BA Music Technology student Salvatore Petrone. “Working with students from other degree pathways has been a real bonus. I learned a lot from this experience.”

“The string recording was a fantastic opportunity to put our skills to the test, not only on the technical but also on an interpersonal level,” said BA Hons Recording, Mixing and Production student Jonatan Michal Janson:

The combination of sound engineering and collaboration with students from different departments really broadened our perspective resulting in a much more creative and valuable session. This is what music is all about - creating something unique together.”

“This richly rewarding experience has yielded sonically sumptuous and inspirational recordings,” continues Sam Sutton, “while also promoting lasting relationships among our music students.”

With one of the largest studio complexes in Europe, the London College of Music boasts excellent professional facilities to help its students develop their skills. Students are encouraged to collaborate with fellow artists and musicians from other courses and across genres.
