Student volunteers do their bit around Ealing
Students have given up their time to help tackle everything from loneliness in Ealing, to litter and environmental projects across the borough during National Volunteer Week.
The University of West London volunteers once again gave up their free time to do good deeds in the community, marking Student Volunteering Week by offering even more support to charity partners and good causes to make a lasting impact.
Kick-starting a week of good deeds, UWL’s Volunteering Team got students together on Monday to create handcrafted cards and messages which we sent to people living in care homes who may be facing isolation and loneliness.
They continued activities with a morning of conservation gardening in Boston Manor on Tuesday, laying hedges and digging and planting with rangers – before continuing outdoor activities in Lammas Park where they helped Ealing Rangers to redevelop a community nature reserve.
Volunteers then spent an afternoon litter picking with volunteering group, LAGER Can to make Ealing cleaner and greener, before lending a hand to Hounslow FoodBox and sorting donations to be sent out to families in need.
UWL student volunteers dedicate hours of free time each month to supporting good causes locally, in what Volunteer and Civic Engagement Manager, Mariana Vieira Da Rocha said was a way to continue the positive impact the University has in West London.
She said:
We are incredibly proud of all our volunteers and everything they have done this week to make a major difference in their community and make this a truly great place to live, work and study.
Our volunteering team dedicates so much time for people and causes in need all year round, and this is a great way to support that work while supporting even more causes for 2022."
