Students from the University of West London (UWL) gained first-hand experience in construction project management during an exclusive site visit to the Chancery House Project.

Level 5 students on the Construction Project Management BSc (Hons) course were invited on a site visit by Collins Construction where they glimpsed the everyday workings of their inner-city development project.

On arrival, students were greeted by the management team and provided with specialist PPE, before receiving an in-depth tour of the ins and outs of the complex site by Collins’ construction site managers. Students got to test out cutting-edge technology used by Collins Construction – such as BIM Management software and virtual-reality technology to demonstrate the final view of the building.

The focus on hands-on professional experience is central to the teaching on the Construction Project Management BSc and provides students with invaluable practical experience that sets them up for fulfilling careers in the industry.

Speaking after the visit, Professor Amir Alani, Executive Dean of the School of Computing and Engineering, said:

By engaging students in the real-world application of their course material through inspiring trips and practical work experience, we are preparing them for the world of work and setting them up for professional success from the offset.”
