UWL lecturer reaches the finals for the Green Gown Awards

Peter Cross, Senior Lecturer in Food Business and Nutritional Sciences at UWL’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism (LGCHT), is a finalist in the Sustainability Champion category at the 2023 Green Gown Awards.

The Awards recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives and best practice undertaken by universities and colleges across the world.
The Sustainability Champion Award is open to staff and students. It recognises people who have worked hard at implementing a sustainability project or initiative and whose involvement has made a positive impact on their peers, institution, students, local community or local workforce.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will take place on Thursday 30 November at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.
Nasrin Khanom, Head of Environmental Sustainability, who nominated Peter for the award, said:
Peter has played an instrumental role in accelerating sustainable food initiatives at UWL.
He has supported UWL in gaining its Sustainable Restaurant Association’s Food Made Good accreditation, helped reduce food waste by encouraging us to use the Too Good To Go App, organised campus-wide activities to improve engagement and much more.”
