UWL looks to a new generation of biomedical experts
Introduction
Ensuring the next generation of game-changing scientists are fully equipped for a leading future in health and medicines, the University of West London (UWL) is offering a whole new area of teaching.
UWL’s new School of Biomedical Sciences launched in September 2020 and is now supporting hundreds of students as they benefit from expert training in Biomedical Science and Pharmacology.
Centred on industry-focused learning and teaching in fully-equipped laboratories, the new courses are already helping aspiring scientists build their knowledge in genetics, immunology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics – as well as helping students develop their understanding of how these underlie human disease.
Professor Richard Morgan, Dean of Biomedical Science and Head of School explained that as well as helping shape the next generation of experts in diseases and their treatments, UWL is now able to equip hundreds of people with the skills to carve out leading careers in health and research.
He said:
Biomedical Science is an incredibly fast-growing field centred around cutting-edge research as our knowledge of diseases and how to treat them continually grows.
We are continually adapting our curriculum to meet today’s challenges and provide relevant skills, and by opening up our offering we can help more aspiring scientists to transform their futures.
UWL’s School of Medicine and Biosciences offers undergraduate and postgraduate training, all based in Ealing.
