Introduction

Reaching millions of listeners with his new music, a DJ and University of West London (UWL) music student is embracing growing success with audiences all over the world.

Now entering his third year of a Music Management BA (Hons), James Carter has already amassed more than 65million streams on Spotify – with his track, Hands in the Fire going viral across social media platform, TikTok in Asia with more than 100million views since its release in 2018.

Starting out by experimenting with creating and sharing remixed tracks online as a teenager, James has now built up a global fan base, working as an active producer and DJ and even being behind official remixes for the likes of Rihanna, James Arthur, Ava Max.

With his latest release Almost Love (featuring Dominic Neill) set for similar success after already reaching more than 10million streams on Spotify, James is now set to return to campus for his final year of study before graduating from UWL’s London College of Music (LCM) in what he hopes will help ensure a strong future in all areas of the industry.

The 22-year-old who lives in Reading, said:

Things are going really well. I’ve always had a passion for music and I started out by creating unofficial bootlegs at home when I was at school and it just grew from there.

At the moment I’m focusing on work as an artist and looking forward to seeing how things may progress. The degree course has opened my eyes from another perspective, so this is a great way to understand other areas of the industry and apply that to what I’m doing.
