UWL’s Dr Bernadine Idowu and Andreea-Daniela Coroama shortlisted for University Alliance Awards

The University of West London is delighted to announce that Dr Bernadine Idowu, Associate Professor at its School of Biomedical Sciences, and Andreea-Daniela Coroama, International Student Experience Coordinator, have both been shortlisted for University Alliance Awards.

The awards recognise excellence in higher education and research across the UK’s leading professional and technical universities. They celebrate the amazing work of staff, students and teams across University Alliance’s membership.
Dr Idowu has been shortlisted for The Braveheart Award, which is for those have shown exceptional levels of integrity in their work.
We are proud of Dr Idowu’s determination and tenacity in making positive strides to address the underrepresentation of people from Black heritage backgrounds both in biomedical science and in academic roles,”
says Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Woodman.
Andreea has been shortlisted for the Star Award, which recognises those who have made their university a brighter place by bringing a sense of fun and positive attitude to their work and projects.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) Sara Raybould, who nominated Andreea for the award, said,
Andreea’s impact on UWL’s international community has been huge. Because of her own lived experience, she understands what our international students need. Andreea deserves this recognition.”
Bernadine and Andreea have been invited to attend the awards ceremony on 12 September at the University of South Wales.
