UWL’s Janet Rowson wins at National Regional Apprenticeship Awards 2023

UWL's Director of Apprenticeships, Janet Rowson, has won the Apprenticeship Champion of the Year for London at the National Regional Apprenticeship Awards 2023. There were over 1,200 applicants across all award categories.

This high-profile award recognises and rewards the achievements of exceptional apprentices, apprenticeship champions and apprenticeship employers.
Janet Rowson commented,
I am truly honoured. This is such an incredible accolade to receive as it is a key moment in the calendar for apprenticeships. UWL delivers a broad range of rigorous, highly job-focused degree apprenticeships that help companies attract and retain the best talent and develops the skills businesses require. This award is the culmination of over five years' commitment to sticking to a clear and robust strategy that supports the national up-skilling and enhancement agenda for the country’s workforce.”
Dr Suresh Gamlath, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Business Development at UWL, also attended the awards ceremony. He added,
We are very proud of Janet and the excellent work of the UWL Apprenticeship Team, as well as the work of our academic schools and all the departments that support apprenticeships. We work with employers from a wide range of sectors and industries to deliver exceptional outcomes. This award also demonstrates that the University is a top provider of higher and degree apprenticeships. We are making a real difference and are truly the Career University.”
UWL offers more than 20 apprentice degree courses across academic, business, computing and engineering, health and social care, policing and science disciplines. Apprentices receive high-quality teaching and learning. They are assigned a personal tutor for pastoral support. They also receive 24/7 access to UWL’s virtual learning environment and library facilities.
