Adrian Rowlands started his full time studies at Dartington College of Arts. From there, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music to study oboe with Gordon Hunt, cor anglais with Christine Pendrill and period oboes with Anthony Robson, where he won various prizes.
Since leaving, Adrian has pursued a freelance career as an orchestral, chamber and studio session player. He has been guest principal with numerous orchestras such as, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and English Chamber Orchestra, as well as playing with nearly all Britain’s main symphony and chamber orchestras.
As a teacher, he has taught in various schools and colleges, as well as private students, and is currently on the staff at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has coached and given classes at Royal College of Music, Dartington International Summer School, Benslow Music School, and NLMS. He also takes an active part in adult community and community education work.
