Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing and Nursing Associates, Professional Lead for Children's and Learning Disabilities Nursing, Course Lead for Children’s Nursing and College Academic Quality Lead.
College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare

I am a Senior Lecturer in both pre-registration nursing, and nursing associate courses in the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare. As well as teaching nursing, I am the Course Lead for Children's Nursing - BNursing (Hons), and the Professional Lead for Learning Disabilities and Children's Nursing; this allows me to support students comprehensively.

As the College Academic Quality Lead I work within the College to ensure courses meet all Professional Body requirements, as well as the University requirements.

I have over 24 years of experience clinically, both in the UK and internationally. This ranges from working in specialised areas such as oncology, diagnostic imaging and emergency department nursing, as well as general nursing on a children's ward. I worked as a clinical educator for three years before taking on my last clinical role in the only specialist child health facility in Western Australia; here I worked in diagnostic imaging as a Registered Nurse. This included working in angiography, MRI and CT.

I moved back home to the UK in 2018 as a Lecturer at UWL and have been in post since. I am passionate about both nursing, and the education of future nurses.

Whilst at UWL, I have been awarded Lecturer of the Year (2018/2019) for the whole University, and Lecturer of the Year (2020/2021), this time for the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare.

Teaching

I am a Registered Children's Nurse, and a Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing. I teach on pre-registration and nursing associate courses across the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare.

As part of all courses we engage in, we teach across all fields of nursing, Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Children's, with field specific teaching at appropriate stages of the course. This gives our students a unique 'across the lifespan' education, allowing care to be given using latest evidence-based education.
