Ged has recently retired from a 31-year career as a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Service. Having served 10 years as a community officer and borough-based Detective, he transferred to Specialist Operations for the remainder of his career serving on Homicide, Complex and Serious Fraud, International Liaison and Extradition, Kidnap and Specialist Investigations. Following promotion to Detective Sergeant, Ged served on a unit managing persistent and priority offenders, chairing a multi-agency panel to coordinate efforts to reduce offending and reoffending rates from the most prolific of offenders. This was followed by a national role delivering on the Asset Recovery Agency national curriculum on financial investigation (counter-terrorism), for Police and HMRC. Ged also coordinated a small team delivering bespoke training to the police and military enforcement internationally concerning counter-terrorism financial investigation. These courses were part of a larger UK Government initiative around capacity building at strategic and tactical levels for international partners particularly those in the "5 I’s” community. Ged was also an Operational Firearms Officer and Operational Firearms Commander for 10 years engaged in diplomatic and royalty special protection commands.
