Dr Ikram Ur Rehman is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Course Leader for Health Informatics (MSc) at the School of Computing and Engineering, University of West London. He has been involved in numerous national and international Mobile Healthcare (MHealth) projects in areas such as chronic disease management, social robotics, decision support systems, behavioural change management, telehealth and telecare in developing countries.

In addition, Ikram has played a key role in eLearning projects, focusing on integrating new technologies like AI-driven adaptive learning, VR/AR for immersive experiences and data analytics to personalise education, particularly for those with disabilities. His innovative efforts have enhanced the accessibility, interactivity and effectiveness of educational programmes globally.

Ikram has authored over 45 journal articles, peer-reviewed conference papers and book chapters. He serves on editorial boards and review panels for numerous transactions and journals, and is a committee member for many international conferences. He has been an invited speaker at various industrial, scientific and governmental events.

In recognition of his academic achievements and contributions to teaching, Ikram has received several accolades, including Academic of the Year (2021-2024), an Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award (2022) and a Teaching Excellence Award (2022). He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a member of IEEE, ACM and IET. Furthermore, he is the Vice Chair of the IEEE Smart Cities Awards and Recognition Committee.

Teaching

Dr Ikram's teaching proficiency is focused on taught and research modules for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including modules such as Programming, Software Development, Databases and Analytics, Data Management in Healthcare and Visualisation, Artificial Intelligence, Data Communication and Networking. Furthermore, he has also actively supervised successful BSc and MSc students in their project dissertations. In addition, he supervises PhD students in their doctoral studies at the University of West London.
