Dr Sumaya Alnahed

Associate Professor in Journalism
London School of Film, Media and Design

Dr Sumaya Alnahed is an Associate Professor in Journalism and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Journalism and BA (Hons) Broadcast and Digital Journalism. Her research mainly involves analysis of news media representations, through an evaluation of the impact of social, political, and cultural influences on news production.

Her research interests include framing analysis, Middle Eastern news, coverage of elections, social movements and social change, and representations of diversity and inclusion in mainstream media. Some of her research has covered the Arab Uprisings, Al Jazeera, the BBC, Brexit, and the Coronavirus.

Teaching

Dr Alnahed teaches on BA (Hons) Journalism and BA (Hons) Broadcast and Digital Journalism. Her teaching focusses on areas of representation, diversity and inclusion, global media and politics, and comparative news media analysis. This includes some of the following modules:
