For thirty years I was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service. For the most part of my career I was a detective investigating homicides. In my last posting I ran a small team, which investigated 'cold case' homicides. We specialised in double jeopardy cases and I always put the victim and family liaison at the centre of the investigation.
The same month I retired from the police, I began my career into academia. I joined the University of West London and started to teach within the Institute for Policing Studies. I am able to bring real-life, first-hand experience and examples into lessons, giving students an authentic flavour of what a career into the police service or law enforcement holds.
