About the event

Join us for an insightful afternoon with Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, Emeritus Professor of Nursing at the University of West London and author.

As part of International Women's Day, whose theme is Inspire Inclusion, Dame Elizabeth Anionwu (an Emeritus Professor of Nursing at UWL) will be sharing her journey. Dame Anionwu is the UK’s first sickle cell specialist nurse. She has been appointed as a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, a fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and given the Order of Merit – something no nurse has received since Florence Nightingale.

Dame Elizabeth was most recently known for her important historical role at the King's Coronation, carrying the gold Sovereign Orb during the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023.

Dame Anionwu published her memoirs 'Dreams From My Mother' in both paperback and audiobook in 2021.

Professor Bernadine Idowu will be in conversation with Dame Anionwu, followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. Light refreshments will be provided after the talk during the networking session and book signing (pre-bought books only).

Admission is free. If you have accessibility requirements please get in touch so we can make suitable arrangements.
