We caught up with Naseem Farboud, UWL’s new Mental Health Project Coordinator for 'people like us' to find out what she is doing to help create a positive support system for our diverse community at UWL.

People like us is an exciting new project that aims to enhance the support available for Black Asian Majority Ethnic students by breaking down potential barriers some communities may face when accessing mental health support.

Speaking ahead of the first workshop next week, Naseem said:

Im delighted to have been recruited as the new Mental Health Project Coordinator. This is such an important project to be involved with! I have experience of working with women and girls from the Middle East North African region providing specialist support around domestic violence. This helped me see first-hand some of the barriers facing members of the BAME community with regard to mental health, and why seeking specialist support is so important.

It’s great to be involved with a project that’s been created from the grass-roots by people like us! That's already a strong foundation to build progress on and I’m really looking forward to getting involved in the discussions and workshops to see how these help benefit our community at UWL.
