On Tuesday 10 October, UWL’s Placement and Employment Services Team hosted a Business, Computing and Engineering Careers Fair to support students and graduates from the Claude Littner Business School (CLBS) and School of Computing and Engineering (SCE). It was a great success as hundreds of attendees connected with more than 30 employers.

Vadims works in finance at Heathrow Airport, after studying a Bachelors degree and then a Masters in Aviation Management at UWL. He said:

UWL is strongly associated with Heathrow. For our graduate programme it’s more about the student’s personality and what they have to offer than whether they have a specific degree.”

Joy Thompson was representing Girl Talk, who connect young women with senior women in multiple industries. She recently completed a Masters in International Business Management:

Our aim is to let women know that they can build their skills, develop themselves and think bigger. Mentorship is important because it puts you in the room with people who you’d never have access to otherwise.”

Dafydd Davis

Dafydd Davies, from acoustics consultants Noise Solutions Ltd, graduated with a degree in Sound Engineering from UWL this summer:

We’re a small company but we’re expanding, which is why we’re here. We want to give students the opportunity to connect with us and answer their questions. We are getting a lot of interest from business and IT students, which is great.”

Final year Computer Science student Samuel said:

I’ve come to the fair to look around and see what’s available. It has been interesting and helpful especially speaking to people at the National Institute of Teaching. I have not thought about teaching as a career before but now I’m thinking it could be a good option.”

Other employers at the Fair included British Airways, the British Army, ISG Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, Kirby Group Engineering, TJX Europe, Transport for London, Vodafone Group and VolkerFitzpatrick.

UWL students can learn about thousands of job opportunities, including part-time, internship, placements and graduate roles at Careers, Placements, Jobs & Volunteering, on the Student Hub.
