UWL graduate recognised for her talent in music production

Introduction

University of West London (UWL) graduate Rhiannon Mair has been nominated for two prestigious music awards for her recording work and projects.

The star producer, songwriter and engineer was nominated in 2019 Breakthrough Engineer and Breakthrough Producer of the Year categories in the Music Producers Guild Awards – an event celebrating the achievements of the UK’s finest producers, engineers, mixers and mastering engineers.

Rhiannon studied Music Technology at UWL’s London College of Music (LCM) and, since graduating, has been working as a songwriter and producer for artists like Laura Marling, Bryde and Emma McGrath.

While she didn’t win the main award, the two nominations are an amazing recognition of Rhiannon’s bright talent in music production and a sure sign of the successes to come.

Rhianon said:

It felt incredible to be nominated for two MPG awards. It's a huge compliment to have your work recognised and to be up there with some incredible producers. My time at UWL was invaluable for me. I’ve met amazing people and learnt so much from lecturers, most of which I still use in my recording sessions.

In addition to being an in demand producer, she has also launched her own project – RUEN – bringing her bold voice to the masses. She’s based in Margate, where she co-founded an Independent recording studio, Palm Bay.

Professor Nicholas McKay, Director of LCM, said:

At LCM we support our students to develop their musical talents. And we also provide them with the skills, knowledge and expertise so that they can find a career in the music industry. Rhiannon is a great example of this and she joins a long list of successful alumni who started out at LCM.
