20-year-old Joe recently moved to London from Leeds and has only recently started volunteering with the V Team.

Joe only began volunteering just before Student Volunteering Week this year and was inspired to get involved after seeing the V Team at an outreach stand at St Mary’s Road.

I just wanted some experience, and to meet some new people. I volunteered during a sexual health awareness project and it was a great experience as I was able to talk to lots of new people on campus, and found everyone I volunteered with to be so helpful."

Joe also feels that he can improve his own skills through volunteering, especially his communication skills and team working skills.

I really just want to gain experience and this is a perfect way. I also think volunteering will help me to feel more a part of uni life- which is important when you start somewhere new. I hope to volunteer a lot more in the future!"
