What do I need in order to study games design or VFX?

The entry requirements for each undergraduate design course vary, so please check the relevant course page for full details. For example, on our V isual Effects (VFX), you may be required to submit a portfolio.
If you do not have quite the right grades or subjects at A-Level to begin your degree, then why not consider a foundation-year course at the University of West London? All of our degrees in this area are available as four-year courses, with the first year providing you with the grounding you need to progress successfully to level 4.

Technical demonstrators

Our students can mine the expertise of our dedicated Technical Demonstrators through demos like this one with our motion capture system. These hands-on lessons give students practice using the latest technology used in industry.

Media Resource Centre

Our Media Resource Centre is available to all LSFMD students for free. We hold a variety of cameras, lights, sound equipment and recording devices. Students can also loan equipment demonstrated in class.

Computing lab at the University of West London

Computing labs

Our computing labs offer numerous computers, most of which are equipped with wide-screen monitors, offering industry-standard specialist software for graphics and image/video editing, 3D animation, digital compositing and high-quality asset creation.

Digital Print Bureau

The Digital Print Bureau has high-tech workstations, fully colour-calibrated professional screens and a wealth of industry-standard software. Students can create professional-grade images from our printers and also have access to top-range scanning machines.
