Intro

As well as books and resources to support you in your studies, the Library also has a number of additional collections available to support your wellbeing, enable you to read for pleasure and increase the inclusivity of our resources.

London Fiction collection

A stack of books

The London Fiction collection contains an eclectic array of genres, periods, styles and voices. While they all share their London setting, each book expresses a unique vision of the capital, creating a collection that’s diverse, expansive and entertaining — just like the city itself.

The London Fiction collection is located on the 2nd floor of the Paul Hamlyn Library, near the journals section.

You can also view all the titles on our London Fiction reading list available via the UWL Reading List page. A small number of books are available as ebooks, which can be accessed directly from the links in the reading list.

The Reading Fiction and Memoir collection contains both popular fiction titles and memoirs on the themes of nursing, midwifery and medicine. The collection is located in the Reading Campus Library, next to the self-service machine (memoir titles) and opposite the printer (fiction titles). The collection contains both popular fiction titles and memoirs on the themes of nursing, midwifery and medicine.

The Reading Fiction and Memoir reading list, accessible via the UWL Reading Lists page, provides a full list of all the books, including links to the ebooks available as part of the collection.

The Live Well collection contains a wide range of titles to help support physical and mental wellbeing.

The collection includes self-help books and personal stories covering topics such as anxiety and stress, self confidence, depression and trauma, as well as titles providing support for people with specific learning difficulties. There are also books offering advice on how to improve your physical health and fiction titles covering themes relating to mental health.

If you need additional support, you might find it helpful to contact your GP or a counsellor (visit the student counselling service page available at UWL). You can also have a look at UWL’s advice on looking after your mental health and find general information at our health advice page (including contact information for local GPs and other external services).
