Understanding Academic regulations - UWLSU Advice
The session aims to answer the following:
- What to do if you are unable to make a deadline?
- What does a mitigation and extension mean?
- What is a mitigating circumstance and how can I prove it?
- What is a self-certification?
- What does Academic offences Panel mean and how can you prepare for it?
- As well as a free opportunity for questions and answers with our Advisors!

Paraphrasing and Summarising Workshop - Study Support Team
This workshop aims to: Provide an understanding of what plagiarism is and why it needs to be avoided Provide techniques for paraphrasing and summarising by focusing on a step-by-step approach. Provide opportunities to practice the techniques discussed.

Academic Style in Writing Workshop - Study Support Team
This workshop aims to encourage students to:
- Become aware of the differences between conversational English academic English.
- Use vocabulary and grammar to develop a suitable academic writing style.
- Practice using the above techniques to create samples of academic writing.

This workshop will cover different information formats that you might be using in your assignments, how to combine references together as well as explaining the differences between quoting, paraphrasing and summarising.
