Creatives make their mark with advertising initiative

Students are leading the way for the next steps in their advertising careers after creating a new online platform for aspiring creatives across the country.

Learning platform, The HAT Collective was created by students for students – all powered by the History of Advertising Trust (HAT) and featuring live events, a resource database, blogs, and a mentoring programme to widen participation in the creative industries.

All put together by the University’s Advertising and Communications students from courses across UWL’s London School of Film, Media, and Design, the initiative is supporting them as they develop their careers and continue to create and conceptualise content across the platform.

Senior Lecturer, Dennis Olsen who leads the project from UWL in collaboration with the Trust, said they have been so impressed with the students’ work they hailed the scheme as one of its 'big achievements in 2021'.

He said:

We are so proud of what our students here at UWL have achieved in creating and conceptualising the content for the innovative HAT Collective, and the Trust too recognises just how much talent and work has gone into making this a real success.

Our talented advertising and branding students have used their own skills to create this space which will continue to have a lasting impact on education and for those interested in the world of advertising across the country."

As an industry partner for the project, HAT supplies the extensive resource archive as well as connecting projects across its vast industry network.
