How the Careers Team can help you
Are you a current student or have you recently graduated and wondering what next?
It is not unusual to feel a bit overwhelmed with decisions around your internships, part-time work, volunteering, or your graduate career. The Careers Team is here to provide you with comprehensive information, advice, and guidance and enable you to navigate the employment market, and support you with some handy hints and tips. Let's take it one step at a time, together.
1. Get started with LinkedIn
Create a LinkedIn profile. Keep it updated and join some professional groups related to career areas you are interested in. It is a great way to make yourself more visible to potential employers and make connections with people you already know. You can also use it to search for graduates of this university who already work for organisations you may want to and connect with them to learn out more. And make sure to follow UWL on LinkedIn too – more than 70,000 people already have.
2. Talk to the Careers Team
Whether you have only just started to think about your next steps, or if you are already clear on what you want to do - come and talk to us and we can support you. You can book a one-to-one appointment on the Student Hub and browse our extensive range of live webinars and employer events.
3. Check out the range of vacancies on Studenthub
We have over 200 live vacancies, from part-time work, working on campus, to graduate-level jobs in a variety of sectors, including volunteering. Why not see if any would suit you?
4. Prepare for interviews
When you do get the invite to an interview, let us support you to build your confidence and prepare your storytelling. You can use our new online tool called Shortlist.Me. Use the link to see what is available, speak to one of the Careers Team for some tips, or simply make an appointment on the Student Hub.
5. Don’t Stress
Most importantly don't stress! Take one action at a time and make small changes that will set you up for success. The Careers Team is here to support you every step of the way. Why not take that first step today?
