Regional Business Reception celebrates UWL’s links in the local community

The University of West London held its annual Regional Business Reception recently where it shared an update on how it is supporting local companies.

Representatives from around 70 organisations attended including partners such as Brentford Football Club, London Chamber of Commerce and Heathrow Airport. Both the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing were also represented, as were a range of other companies including Handelsbanken, Blake Morgan and WebFX.
This was a great opportunity for us to further promote our core enterprise-focused services and celebrate the variety of knowledge exchange activity at UWL,“
said Head of Knowledge Exchange and Business Engagement John Charlton, who was one of the speakers at the event.
Other speakers included Employer Engagement Manager Judith Yemane, from UWL’s Placement and Employment Service, who was on hand to outline the latest funding available for businesses as part of the UWL graduate internship scheme.
Product Development Chef Sebastian Stoklosa, from UWL’s West London Food Innovation Centre, talked about the extensive nutritional, sensory and food product development services available to businesses. In addition, UWL Director of Apprenticeships Janet Rowson spoke about the upcoming apprenticeship skills summit and presented the University’s new Sustainability Business Specialist integrated degree.
Westmont Enterprise Hub Executive Director Stephen Fry gave an update on the Centre's entrepreneurship activities, including its venture-making programme for local women entrepreneurs and the growing portfolio of companies in incubation at the University.
Professor Anthony Woodman, UWL Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said:
UWL really values its relationships with local companies. Events like this are a great way for us to demonstrate the impact we are achieving in the region, building on our existing relationships and extend our reach with new partnerships going forward.”
