Volunteering stories - Opeyemi Adeyemo
Main body
Opeyemi Adeyemo volunteers as a Project Leader on the V Team’s One Day Challenge Scheme and recently implemented her dream project in the local community.
I fell in love with volunteering after working with Headway, the brain injury association. I was inspired by the difference I was making to people's lives. I began to volunteer again at UWL and the highlight was the training I received to prepare me for my role as Project Leader."
After volunteering for other students' projects, she recently led her first volunteer project, running a poetry / spoken word workshop for young people in a local youth club.
You learn so many skills through volunteering, especially people skills and your employability. However you have to have a passion for it also! When you see your project come to life, it is the most wonderful thing and makes all the hard work worthwhile!"
