Julie Jones
Dr Julie Jones did her nurse training in Edinburgh in 1988, shortly followed by midwifery training in Blackpool. Julie has been a practising midwife since 1993, a midwifery lecturer since 2014, and has also studied psychology. Julie has worked in many areas throughout the UK, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. She also worked for Unicef in Denmark procuring and arranging the supply of medical supplies and vaccines. She was a bereavement specialist midwife from 2011-2014 before taking up a post as a Midwifery lecturer at the University of West London. Julie was Course Leader for London for the BMidwifery (Hons) three year course from 2018 to 2023; she is now Course Leader for postgraduate courses.
Julie has successfully completed a doctorate in Health Science in 2022 looking at what knowledge, skills and abilities constitute proficiency in caring for bereaved parents experiencing stillbirth or neonatal death. This resulted in the Perinatal Loss Proficiency Framework which was launched in August 2022; the aim is for this to form the basis for all healthcare training for anyone involved in caring for parents experiencing perinatal loss.
