Karen Hunt
Karen Hunt is an investigative crime specialist, with 31 years’ experience as a detective within the Metropolitan Police. Karen has accumulated a wealth of knowledge investigating major crimes, as well as dealing with the diverse needs and expectations of the city of London. A strong believer in leading by example, she will encourage and develop all aspects of team building as well as identifying individual skills.
A 27 year career in the criminal investigation department included postings to the Regional Crime squad, the Flying Squad and Homicide & Serious Crime.
Karen has taught at the Scotland Yard Crime Academy, delivering training to officers from all over the UK and the Caribbean.
After leaving the Metropolitan Police, Karen worked as an investigator for the Nursing & Midwifery Council, investigating allegations of misconduct in the profession, and has delivered training on behalf of Edinburgh City Council.
Karen has maintained her investigative skills and knowledge by working as a freelance investigative consultant, including undercover surveillance for the security industry.
Appearing on Reality TV show 'Hunted', Karen can also give a first-hand account of a real fugitive hunt. As one of the original investigation team members into the Dennis Nilson Investigation, Karen appeared on the ITV presentation 'Des'.
Most recently Karen featured in the Netflix presentation of 'The Nilson Tapes', and the ongoing Moment of Proof series on BBC 1.
Karen is currently an Associate Lecturer with the University of West London, delivering training to new officers and detectives within the Metropolitan Police.

BTEC Level 3 Education & Training, Newcastle College.
Teaching
- Delivered detective training at the Crime Academy New Scotland Yard 2008 to 2010.
- Immersive HYDRA training and case management to the Marine Organisation on behalf of Red Snapper training.
- Developed and delivered training to the private security industry on behalf of the LPC.
- Delivered training to student officers within the MPS on behalf of the IPS.
