Patryk reached new heights thanks to UWL aviation training
Introduction
After his first solo flight at the age of just 17, a thriving University of West London (UWL) airline student is continuing to reach new heights by landing his dream job at Heathrow Airport.
Patryk Baranowski is now mixing his passion with all the skills and expertise he has learnt at UWL’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism (LGCHT) through his new role as Airfield Operations Officer at the major airport.
After landing the dream position, he managed to complete 12 months of intense training to become a fully licensed AOO while also working full time, studying for his degree, and juggling Covid restrictions.
Introduction
From the beginning of the course I always wanted to not only have the academic side of things under my belt but experience too, and the university has supported me throughout the whole journey and have always made sure that I stay on top of my workload and provide help and guidance whenever I needed it. Getting what I consider to be the best job in the industry was such a huge moment for me. I was only 20 years old trying to get into the airport operations team against many people with years of experience across aviation, but I never let my age be a limit to what I knew I was capable of doing with my knowledge and experience.
Patryk is now responsible for maintaining a safe and effective operating environment at the airport, alongside his studies as he completes his final year of a BSc (Hons) Air Transport Management.
