Flexible study
What part-time and flexible study options are available?
Whether you want to enhance your career prospects, update your professional skills or simply study for your own enjoyment, we can help you realise your potential with our flexible courses.
When you study on a part-time basis or one of our fast-track intensive day release or Saturday study courses, you can experience the financial and career benefits of continued employment.
Part-time
You can take almost all our undergraduate courses on a part-time basis. Study at your own pace alongside work and other commitments and get the skills and knowledge you need to progress in your career. You can also move between full and part-time study during your course if your circumstances change. View a list of our part-time degrees.
Fast-track intensive degree courses: Saturday-study and day-release
We offer a range of fast-track degrees that can be studied on Saturdays or on 'day release' (one day per week) from your current employer, making it easier for you to fulfil your goals. Learn more about these opportunities.
Fast-track intensive degree courses
If you are working full-time but looking to reach the next step in your career, change careers altogether, or just finally earn a degree, we have a range of Saturday Study and Day-release courses to help you.
Why study part-time, day release or Saturday study?
-
Working while you study
Studying part-time means you can continue to work and maintain your income whilst you learn. Part-time courses are structured to allow you to balance your studies with your work commitments, and many courses encourage you to make use of your workplace experiences and expertise as an integral part of your studies.
-
Balancing personal life and study
One of the greatest advantages of part-time study is being able to combine learning with family, work or personal commitments. Although sometimes challenging, part-time study allows you to balance different parts of your life, and to study at a rate that suits your personal circumstances.
Please note, many part-time courses are studied over a longer period of time than their full-time equivalents, however, you spend fewer hours per week in a classroom.
Alternatively, our fast-track intensive courses (Saturday study and day-release) allow you to complete your studies in less time.
-
Financial benefits
Part-time study allows you to maintain your income while you learn. This will help you to balance your personal commitments and to finance your studies. The annual part-time undergraduate fees are lower than those of full-time students which allows you to spread the cost of your studies.
Many employers are willing to sponsor employees to develop their potential through further study, whether through financial support or by providing time-off to study.
If you are a home/EU part-time undergraduate student starting your first degree you can apply for student finance, meaning you don’t have to pay tuition fees up front. See our help with undergraduate funding page.
If you are funding your studies yourself, we offer flexible payment plans. For more information about options of how to pay fees, please contact our Student Finance Centre on 020 8280 0283.
Fast-track intensive courses
Please note that Saturday-study or day release courses are classed as full-time study. This means that you are able to apply for a full-time student loan - find out further information at Student Finance. It may also affect your eligibility for state benefits.
-
Career enhancement
Part-time study can help enhance your existing career, develop new skills, increase your chances of promotion, as well as open up more job prospects if you are seeking a career change.
As well as offering a growing range of professional body awards, the majority of our courses are accredited or endorsed by professional bodies, to make sure you develop the knowledge and skills employers are looking for.
-
