With exams, dissertations, and final assignments all in full swing, we know it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. UWL is here to support you every step of the way. Everyone is different, and you must figure out what works for you, but no matter your working style, UWL can offer support and guidance.

Here are some top tips for staying on top of your work, not letting your studies overwhelm you, and getting the most out of this important time.

Get plenty of sleep

  • All-night study sessions may sound tempting, but a solid eight-hours can help to boost your memory and give you all the energy you need to focus.

Check out the Dissertation Workshops on the Student Hub

  • Study Support are offering dissertation focused workshops running in Week 16. These can be booked via The Student Hub.

Fuel your body & brain

  • Providing your body with the right nutrition will give you the energy to revise effectively. Ensuring you have protein, carbs and fibre in your meals will keep you alert and ready to work. Always aim to have at least one piece of fruit and veg a day. For more advice on achieving a healthy, balanced diet, check out these tips from the NHS.

  • Time management is a crucial part of study, so make sure to plan your work effectively. Create a weekly calendar with everything you have to do (work/childcare/exercise class) so you can clearly see the gaps in your week to plan in your revision, for help with this or to learn other strategies join the preparing for your exams workshops being run by Study Support.

Take lots of breaks and get some fresh air!

  • Effective studying is all about quality not quantity. Make sure to go for a walk and stretch your legs, or just take some time away from the screen and your books. Try taking a walk, spending some time in nature, and getting some proper fresh air.
  • Our chill-out room is available in the Paul Hamlyn Library from 29 May to 11 June. This is a place for you to relax and take a break at any time 24/7 during the exam and assessment period. Find it on the 2nd floor in Library Study Room 2 (PE.02.010).
