Welcome to employability services for students

We have a range of employability services here at UWL including our careers, placements, employment and volunteering teams that can help you on your student journey.

As a university, we care about your studies and your future, which means that we do all we can to support you in getting the career you want. Throughout your course we can provide essential academic support, useful careers guidance and jobs advice when you feel that you need it.

Appointments and events

Booking appointments

You can book or come along to one of the following:

  • Drop-ins: a quick and immediate face-to-face 15-minute support drop-in, providing information and general advice.
  • Careers appointments: 30 minutes to 1 hour, one-to-one, online or face-to-face booked meetings with your school careers consultant for help with CVs, cover letters, applications and anything careers related.

The University of West London offers industry-specific careers events that are free to attend. These events offer a unique opportunity to:

  • meet students and recent graduates;
  • network with fellow exhibitors within your industry;
  • meet UWL academic staff;

Careers

The Careers team guides students and alumni toward successful careers. Services include personalised career guidance assistance with CV and cover letters, job search strategies, and interview preparation.

The university is not part of any combined careers services.

Placements

The Placement team fosters student connections, facilitates job and internship placements, provides a resource centre for career exploration also thanks networking events, and professional development workshops.

Employment

The Employment team assists students in finding part-time jobs, internships, and full-time employment opportunities.

Our on-campus careers and employability fairs are run throughout the year and are designed to help you network with potential employers, all in one place. So far, these have included companies such as Sky UK, NHS, BAE Systems and Cancer Research UK who have all attended in search of the brightest, new talent.

Volunteering

The volunteering team connects students with diverse volunteering opportunities, fostering community engagement. They organise events, collaborate with local organisations, and provide skill development opportunities, encouraging students to contribute meaningfully to social causes.
