The competition was supported by Warner Bros, and entrants had to score a trailer for their action-adventure game ‘Middle Earth: Shadow of War.’

Terry worked hard on his score for the competition. He finished writing it a month before the submission deadline, then listened to it every day, made notes on how it could be improved and made minor changes.

Terry is from China and since the competition has been offered a job at a studio in Beijing belonging to Tencent Pictures, one of the biggest film companies in China. This will give him the opportunity to work on soundtracks for high-level films and games.

I am very happy that my hard work paid off. The main thing this competition has given me is confidence in my abilities,”

said Terry.

I am very grateful for all the knowledge and musical advice given to me by my teachers, Dr Bartosz Szafranski and Dr Simone Spagnolo at UWL, without whom I could not have achieved this.”

Dr Spagnolo, who is Head of Composition at LCM, commented,

This is a truly extraordinary achievement, one that puts Terry in an international network of professional opportunities that will properly launch his career.

I am extremely glad that such an achievement has been obtained by one of our international students, as it shows how our course not only is attended by incredibly talented composers from all over the world, but it also represents a platform for the next generation of globally successful composers.”
