The awards spotlight the exceptional initiatives and achievements of businesses and organisations based in the west of the capital. Business leaders are recognised, along with sustainable and responsible business practices and initiatives to support economic growth and inspire young people locally. The awards are highly competitive and cover a large, diverse community.
Janet Rowson, UWL Director of Apprenticeships, said:
We are very proud that UWL’s apprentice programme has been shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year. We regularly engage with the West London business community and so this is important recognition of the work we do in connecting people to education and training.”
UWL’s Westmont Enterprise Hub is nominated in the Incubator Co-working Space of the Year category. Commenting on the awards shortlist, its director Stephen Fry said:
We’re delighted to be finalists – it demonstrates the impact that Westmont Hub is making by promoting and supporting entrepreneurship inside UWL and outside in the local startup ecosystem.”
UWL’s shortlisting for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award was welcomed by its Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development Neil Henderson, who said:
As a university, we are very much focused on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all staff and students, which makes this nomination particularly gratifying.”
Finally, Director of Property Services Claire Willitts added that UWL is also delighted to be up for the Environmental Corporate of the Year award:
Sustainability is a key priority, so being named a finalist in this category is welcome recognition of our dedication to reducing our environmental impact and being able to share the knowledge and skills gained in the process with the west London community.”
Finalists attended a Christmas reception at the House of Commons on 5 December ahead of the awards ceremony, which is taking place on Friday 16 February 2024 at Twickenham Stadium. Good luck!
