UWL shortlisted in four categories for West London Business Awards 2025

- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Business of the Year
- Apprentice of the Year - Chartered Management Degree Apprentice Kavita Ramlugun
- Incubator/Co-working Space of the Year - Westmont Enterprise Hub
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year – Hospitality Management student Rahul Dahiya, Founder of Algi
The Awards spotlight the exceptional initiatives and achievements of businesses and organisations based in the west of the capital. They are highly competitive and cover a large, diverse community.
Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development Kevin West commented:
We are delighted to be nominated for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Business of the Year award which recognises our commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse culture across the University.
We have committed to a number of initiatives to promote awareness of equality issues which has resulted in tangible improvements for our student and staff experience. We look forward to continuing this work and would like to thank the awards for this recognition.”
Chartered Management Degree Apprentice Kavita Ramlugun said:
I am extremely delighted to be shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year. The apprenticeship has helped me greatly in my career and in my personal growth. I am grateful to all those who have supported me through my journey.”
Westmont Enterprise Hub Development Manager Angela Kanwar commented:
It is wonderful to be a finalist at the awards for Incubator/Co-working Space of the Year. The Hub is an ideation space which has a unique entrepreneurial community (UWL students and local entrepreneurs) - where collaborations happen. We support entrepreneurs with free business events and networking sessions, business advice and welcoming space to develop their business ideas.”
Hospitality Management student Rahul Dahiya is also the founder of Algi, a patent-pending living wall solution that harnesses the power of algae to revolutionize energy efficiency and air quality. He said:
I am incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. This recognition fuels my passion for driving innovation and sustainability through Algi.”
The winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony on Friday 31 January at Allianz Stadium Twickenham. Good luck to all nominees!
